On October 15, Kim Hong-rok, a member of the Konkuk University track and field team, won the gold medal in the half marathon at the 105th National Sports Festival in Gimhae, Gyeongsangnam-do.
Kim finished the 21.0975 km half marathon in the men's university division with a time of 01:07:53, securing first place and the gold medal. Teammate Son Se-jin (Physical Education '22) followed closely behind with a 01:08:50 (PR) to take the silver medal.
“The daily training is hard, but the medals make it worthwhile,” said Kim. He also pledged, “I will do my best to achieve great results in the remaining competitions as a Konkuk University athlete.”
Konkuk University coach Yoo Young-hoon commented, “I expect our athletes to continue to achieve great results in future competitions based on their dedication and hard works during the training. My focus will be on the guidance of our younger athletes to ensure their continued growth and to maintain the reputation of our Athletics team.”
Representing Seoul, the Konkuk University Athletics team won a total of one gold, three silver and three bronze medals at the 105th National Sports Festival.
